Top level Episode Guide Buffy Buffy Season 7

Author:   Publishing date: 16.02.2003 18:30

Buffy is training the PS's in the graveyard, with Spike's help. Rona and Vi don't fare well against Spike, so Buffy demonstrates and ends up straddling Spike. Molly asks if they are supposed to make out with the vampires before slaying them.

The training continues the next morning in the basement. After getting the PS's attention by throwing an axe and telling them that they are all going to die (as all humans do), Buffy tells the PS's that her death could make one of them the next slayer. [Ed: This should not happen as Buffy's (first) death called Kendra, whose subsequent death called Faith and, in theory, only Faith's death would call a new slayer. No new slayer was called the last time that Buffy died. That is, unless JW wants something else to happen.] Dawn is watching from the stairs, but is being ignored. Buffy tells them that Anya's sources suggest that The First is in remission, having lost the Turok-Han, its main corporeal agent, thus giving them time to train and regroup. She tells the PS's that they are special, the chosen ones and that they have a purpose in life. On the way upstairs, Buffy notices Dawn and tells her to hurry up so that she is not late for school.

At school, Buffy talks to Amanda, a girl in Dawn's year. She wants to know if anyone thinks that Buffy is weird. Amanda thinks that people think that she (Amanda) is weird. She thinks that she is because she thinks that a boy who is picking on her is cute. Buffy talks, or rather rambles, about Spike without talking about Spike and about how it is over, really over...

Buffy arrives home to find Xander, Andrew, Rona and Vi arguing. Buffy tells them all off and Willow arrives with news. The coven have located another PS, who lives in Sunnydale. Buffy reluctantly agrees to take the PS's out training that night while the rest of the gang try to locate the new PS. The PS's are selecting weapons in the kitchen and Dawn is feeling left out. Andrew begs Buffy to allow him on the training session, but she refuses.

Willow prepares for her location spell while Dawn speculates upon who the new PS could be. Willow starts the spell, which will send a glowing ball of light to find the PS. The spell works, but the smell of burning egg is overpowering. Dawn goes to open the door to let out the smell. The light follows her, hits her and lights her with a glowing aura. It seems that Dawn is the new PS.

Dawn is shocked and reluctant to tell Buffy the "good" news immediately. She believes that for her to become the slayer, Buffy would have to die. [Ed: Has everyone forgotten about Faith?] (Which they can't do anyway as Buffy did not take her mobile phone with her to the training session.) Dawn goes upstairs for some peace and quiet, while the others talk about her downstairs. Dawn hears the others talking about her short life and the Bringer's knives. She climbs out of the window and goes for a walk.

Buffy takes the PS's to a demon bar. As Buffy is telling them that there isn't a being in the bar that wouldn't gladly kill them, Clem says hello. Buffy talks to Clem, while Kennedy asks the others if they think that Buffy dated Clem too. Buffy introduces them to Clem who, on cue, shows them his real face.

While walking Dawn meets Amanda coming home from choir practice. They talk and Dawn finds out that Amanda has seen and trapped a vampire in the school. Dawn, as a PS, goes with Amanda to the school to slay it. They break into the school through a window and Dawn is very nervous, far more nervous that Amanda. Amanda suggests letting the vampire live as long as it can be used to scare the school marching band, who look down on the choir.

They find the classroom that Amanda trapped the vampire in, but the door is no longer locked and the vampire is waiting for them. They run and the vampire follows them. Dawn slows it down, temporarily, by hitting it with a fire extinguisher.

Dawn and Spike take the PS's to a crypt where vampires were living. Spike, asked about his crypt, describes his as better, may be not posh, but... Buffy chips in with comfy... Buffy changes the subject and tells the PS's too look around so that they can identify a vampire nest in the future. The PS's find a body, which is just rising as a new vampire.

The vampire is still chasing Dawn and Amanda through the school. They lock themselves in a science laboratory and the vampire attacks the door. The vampire in the crypt attacks Buffy and she fends him off while talking to the PS's about fighting vampires. At the school, Dawn has a plan. The vampire breaks in to the lab. Buffy tells the PS's that anything is a weapon in the hands of a slayer, but it only takes on mistake and the vampire will kill them. Dawn slips and the vampire is about to drink her. Buffy and Spike leave the crypt, leaving the PS's to face their vampire.

At the house, the gang find out that Dawn has gone. They want to find her before the Bringers do.

The Bringers crash through the windows in the lab, but they do not attack Dawn. They go straight for Amanda. Dawn lights a gas tap and rescues Amanda. They run to the top of the stairs where Dawn tells Amanda that she is the special one. (Xander arrives at the bottom of the stairs in time to see the conversation.) The Bringers and the vampire attack.

Amanda leads the fight with Dawn and the rest of the, just arrived, gang helping. Amanda slays the vampire. She is confused about what is actually happening and thinks that the orange ball of light that hit her when she was standing at the door of Buffy's house is connected to drugs.

Back at the house, the other PS's talk about slaying the vampire in the crypt and Amanda tells them about the one she killed. Dawn watches, on the outside again. Buffy doesn't realise what Dawn is going through and calls the PS's downstairs for training.

Xander, who saw what Dawn did at the school, talks to her. He tells her that none of the "special" ones, Buffy and the PS's, will ever know how hard it is being on the outside, being so close to the spotlight and never being in it. Over the last 7 years, all of his friends and their powers have grown stronger. He has seen more than anyone knows, because no one has paid as much attention to him as the others. He tells her that she is not special, she is extraordinary.
