Xander is looking for his own apartment to get away from his parent's basement, but the credit check may be a problem.
During a fight in the city dump, a demon's weapon misses Buffy and splits Xander into two - a blatant rip-off of the ST:TOS episode and there are a few Trek references in this episode - one Xander has all of his good qualities and the other the bad ones.
Everyone assumes that the double, both of them, is the demon in Xander's form. Anya is concerned that she is dying, she is no longer immortal and may have as few as 50 years to live.
Giles eventually realises what has actually happened to Xander and that if one Xander dies they both do. Buffy stops them killing each other just in time.
Anya wants them to wait until after a Menage A Troi, before they re-combine the two.
