Buffy stakes a vampire (for practice?) before returning to the magic shop. Giles insists that if Glory begins the ritual and opens the portal, the only way to close it and save the universe(s) is to kill Dawn. Buffy refuses to consider it, despite the implications for everything and everyone else.

Xander suggests killing Glory when she is Ben. Anya suggests using the orb, which Buffy found in [S5-05 No Place Like Home], and the troll's hammer from [S5-11 Triangle].

Glory suggests to Dawn that, if Buffy arrives, it may not be to save her. Buffy reflects back to a previous, potential, armageddon where she killed Angel to save the world. She is disillusioned and tells Giles that she will quit being the slayer if Dawn dies.

Glory's demons take Dawn to prepare for the ritual. Xander and Anya are searching the magic shop's cellar for the orb, when Xander asks Anya to marry him. She accepts.

Willow's thinks that she can reverse what Glory did to Tara and weaken Glory as a result, if she can get close enough without getting killed. Spike goes with Buffy to her house to collect some weapons. They both believe that not everyone will be alive tomorrow. He agrees to protect Dawn, until the end of the world.

The gang are ready to go. Their plan is to prevent Glory from starting the ritual. They use a delusional Tara to guide them to Glory. Willow manages to reverse Tara's madness back into Glory.

Buffy attacks Glory and the rest of the gang start attacking her demons. Glory knocks Buffy's head off, at least, robot Buffy's head. Then the real Buffy appears and goes to save Dawn.

Buffy and Glory fight, preventing Glory from starting the ritual. There are only a few minutes left until it is too late to begin the ritual and it looks like Buffy can keep fighting Glory for that long.

The demon who worships Glory (from the previous episode) intends to begin the ritual even if Glory can't. With Willow's help Spike goes to protect Dawn. He looses the fight with the demon and is thrown from the top of the structure.

Glory, battered, reverts to Ben. Believing Glory beaten, for now, Buffy spares Ben's life.

Buffy's Grave Giles believes that Glory will re-emerge one day and take her revenge on Buffy. He kills Ben. Buffy reaches Dawn just after the demon cuts her and the blood starts flowing. The portal begins to open. The apocalypse begins. Anya saves Xander from falling masonry and is hit by it instead.

Dawn knows that she must jump into the portal and die to save the universe(s). Buffy refuses to let her. Buffy jumps instead. She saves the world and dies.
