Buffy, Xander and Dawn are at the airport waiting for Willow to arrive. All the passengers get off the plane, but Willow is not with them. STSP (Same Time, Same Place): Willow gets off the plane with the other passengers, but the gang are not there to meet her.
At night on the building site, a boy spraying graffiti is attacked by a demon. Willow arrives at Buffy's house, but no-one is there and she goes to sleep on the sofa. STSP: The gang arrive back at the house, but the house is empty. They want to know where Willow is. They are worried that Willow is still not cured.
The next morning, Willow tries to call Giles, but he is not available. She goes to the magic shop and finds Anya still cleaning up the damage. Anya is less than happy to see her. Anya verbally attacks Willow, but stops when Willow agrees that she deserves it. Anya tells Willow where all the gang are likely to be.
Willow arrives at the building site to find the skinned body of the graffiti artist. STSP: Xander and Buffy are also looking at the body. Xander hears, but doesn't see, Willow climbing the ladders out of the site. They both think that it may be Willow's doing, as she did the same thing to Warren in [S6-20 Villains].
Willow goes to Sunnydale High to talk to Spike. She asks if anything, other than herself, could have skinned the body. STSP: Xander and Buffy are talking to Spike. Willow goes to Anya for help, they both ask each other if they attacked the boy. With Anya's help, Willow casts a spell to find all the demons in Sunnydale (the same spell she tried with Tara when Tara thought that she was a demon). Anya can't teleport to find the demon as she has had her privilege revoked for reversing her vengeance spell last week.
Anya does not enjoy hurting people and vengeance any more. She and Willow find that they have a lot in common now.
At the house, Dawn is helping with research and finds the demon almost immediately. The gang use Spike to track the trail of blood that the demon left. Dawn is getting almost too enthusiastic now. Spike leads them to the cave where the demon is. He leaves with a comment on Xander's behaviour and intelligence, "I'm insane. What's his excuse?"
Willow enters the cave. STSP: The gang enter the cave. They all see the demon. Dawn is attacked by the demon and the gang leave, sealing the cave behind them - with Willow trapped inside.
The demon taunts Willow before attacking and paralysing her. He cuts her and starts drinking her blood. Xander and Buffy get Dawn home. She is fully paralysed now. The demon starts eating Willow's skin.
Anya arrives at the house to look after Dawn and plays with Dawn, treating her as a doll. She tells the gang about Willow being at the cave. She goes with Xander and Buffy to kill the demon and rescue Willow, leaving Dawn in a "suitable" pose.
They get to the cave, but only Anya can see Willow, Buffy and Xander. Buffy fights the demon and kills it, ending Willow and Dawn's paralysis. Anya goes for help. Willow gradually becomes visible to Xander and Buffy (and visa versa).
The next day at the house, Buffy finds Willow meditating to heal herself. Willow has realised that she subconsciously cast a spell to prevent her and the gang seeing each other. Buffy helps Willow meditate, giving her some of her own strength to help her recover.
