The gang are patrolling - not very well, they loose the vampire. Willow warns them, telepathically, that the vampire is coming back. Buffy is helping. Spike burns the first vampire and Buffy helps with the second - Robot Buffy. Willow has, sort of, repaired the robot. Buffy is dead.
Willow and Tara are living at Buffy's house with Dawn and Robot Buffy. They are pretending that Buffy is still alive so that the demons and vampires do not find out she is dead.
Buffy's father does not know she is dead and the gang want to keep it that way so that he does not take Dawn away. Robot Buffy goes with Dawn to her school's open day - it appears that some more programming adjustments are required!
Giles is going back to England and leaving Anya in charge of the shop. Spike is looking after Dawn while the rest of the gang, excluding Giles, meet in secret. Spike is missing Buffy. Robot Buffy is on patrol and is damaged while attacking a vampire, who realises it is a machine.
Willow, Tara, Xander and Anya are planning some magic, which they are hiding from everyone else - they plan to raise Buffy from the dead. Xander wants to back out, but Willow "insists" that they continue. They can bring her back because she died an un-natural death by mystical energy and not naturally, like Joyce.
Willow repairs Robot Buffy, after it has upset Spike by reminding him of his love for Buffy. Dawn sleeps next to Robot Buffy that night, missing her sister. Giles is training Robot Buffy to behave like a human. Giles is blaming himself for Buffy's death.
The vampire that got away from Robot Buffy tells a gang of demons that Buffy has been replaced by a robot, that there is no slayer in town. The demons plan to take over Sunnydale.
Willow performs the first part of the spell, which involves a sacrificial animal. Giles has gone. He left a note for the gang and they catch him at the airport to say goodbye.
They have to perform the second part of the spell that night. The demon's are on their way to Sunnydale. As they perform the ritual at Buffy's grave, the demons arrive in Sunnydale.
