Darla's date takes her to Sunnydale High at night, with predictable results. Buffy wakes from a nightmare to her first day at her new school. Principal Flutie "welcomes" Buffy to school and Xander discovers her stake.
After meeting Cordelia, Buffy goes to the library where Giles tries to give her a book on Vampires. She leaves the library. Darla's date is found dead in the locker room. Buffy investigates the dead body, realises that he was killed by a vampire and confronts Giles.
She tells Giles that she does not want to be the slayer anymore. Xander overhears their conversation. On the way to the Bronze, Buffy meets Angel. He gives her the necklace and warns her that "The Harvest" is coming.
Buffy advises Willow to "seize the moment" then goes to talk to Giles. She tells him about Angel and he tries to talk her into taking her duties seriously. She spots a vampire, taking Willow out of the club. Buffy goes after Willow, giving Cordelia a shock on the way.
Luke wakes the Master. The vampire takes Willow to a crypt in the cemetery and Darla brings Jesse. Buffy and Xander arrive in time for Buffy to save them. She stakes one vampire and ends up fighting with Luke.
