Buffy escapes from Luke. She saves Willow and Xander from being re-captured, but cannot find Jesse. Giles and Buffy convince Willow and Xander that vampires exist. Darla takes Jesse to the Master and Luke tells him of Buffy. The Master turns Jesse into a vampire to use as bait against Buffy.

Buffy leaves school, against Principal Flutie's orders, and returns to the crypt to find Jesse. Xander follows, against Buffy's orders. Giles and Willow research the Hellmouth. Buffy meets Angel in the crypt and he warns her not to go into the tunnels.

Cordelia and Harmony talk about Buffy's actions in the Bronze and about her being thrown out of her last school. Willow defends her and tells them to send their computer files using "DELiver".

Buffy and Xander find Jesse, only to discover he is a vampire. They escape Jesse and the Master's trap through an air vent. The Master orders The Harvest to begin and makes Luke his vessel.

Buffy and Xander return to the library with the bad news about Jesse. Giles tells them about the Hellmouth, the Master's last escape attempt and that the end of the world is tonight. Joyce refuses to allow Buffy out of the house, so she goes out through the window. The gang go to the Bronze to stop the Harvest.

The Master's vampires trap all the people in the Bronze and Luke starts feeding. Buffy attacks Luke just as he is about to feed off Cordelia. Giles, Willow and Xander free the captives. Xander accidentally slays Jesse. Buffy slays Luke before the Master has enough strength to ascend.

The world is saved, temporarily. Angel is surprised!
